YANDARA, BAJA, MEXICO - January 7-13, 2024

RESTORE + RENEW: We all need time to reset and that is what this journey to Yandara will offer. A sacred time for renewal and restoration. Tucked away into the natural landscape, this offering will be a space and time for deep reflection, rest and renewal.

*Please note, there is no alcohol permitted on the premises at Yandara although there will be a few opportunities for us to have meals off-site.

  • Nothing about this retreat is typical and that’s by design. If you’re seeking (simply) a beach vacay, this isn’t it. Although restoration and renewal are awaiting. This is an opportunity to find renewal and reimagine your potential.

You will not find an experience that is more closely held in nature, literally on the sand, steps from the ocean and tucked among palm trees and cactus.

This incredible location at the end of the Baja peninsula and set on an expansive private beach is where desert meets sea. Yandara is nestled among the saguaro and only steps from the transformational tide.

The pristine backdrop and austere surroundings are the perfect space to gain clarity around what is no longer serving us and reinvigoration about what is. At a time when our bodies and minds may be craving a reset, this is an opportunity to truly nourish our bodies, spirit and souls.

    Join us.

  • A typical day at Yandara will begin by waking up to the sounds of the ocean just steps outside of your private tent or cabana.

Enjoy fresh coffee and fresh fruit before beginning our day in silent meditation before our first yoga practice.

After a clearing and active morning asana offering, there will be a nourishing breakfast followed by your choice of optional activities including guided contemplative hiking, solo pool time, community tea ceremony or beach time.

Enjoy a group lunch before some quiet relaxing time, a hike, reading or time by the pool before moving into ceremony, intention and exploration of the reason we are here.

Daily, you’ll have the opportunity to select into an array of offerings provided onsite by local practitioners including reiki, sound and energy clearing, tarot and astrology or massage/acupuncture.

Letting go, restoration, renewal. A daily evening offering will be more subtle in nature but no less powerful. Laying foundations for everything that is to come.

  • • 7 experiential days focused on restoration and renewal through an immersive program focused on finding the space to slow down and invite reawakening.

    • 6 nights oceanside accommodation in your choice of 1) beautiful, minimally appointed canvas tents, 2) individual concrete cabanas or 3) cabana with en suite bathroom and shower.

    • 2 to 3 yoga and meditation practices per day either on the beach or in a private yoga shala.

  • Where should I fly into?
The closest airport to Yandara is SJD San Jose Del Cabo, which is just about a one-hour shuttle (that we arrange for you!) from the airport.

    Do I need a passport?
Yes! If you are US or Canadian Citizen, you do need a valid passport (within 6 months of your travel date).

What is the beach like at Yandara?
The beach directly outside of your cabanas is white sand and beautiful to dip your toes in but rocky in the water and not for swimming. Just a short ten minute walk through the nature preserve is the swim beach of South Beach and a short taxi ride from Yandara is the cute surf beach of Cerritos which is where we will be spending most of our beach time, and where we will be for our optional surf lessons!

    Are shared accommodations available?
The cabanas are designed to be single occupancy however if you would like to travel with your partner or friend, double occupancy can be arranged!

I am a new yoga practitioner, is this retreat for me?
100% YES! This is the perfect opportunity for you! The reset and renew retreat is going to be a balance of restoration and energizing yoga practices for ALL-LEVELS and our experienced leads will be available to support you no matter where you are in your yoga journey!

What kinds of things can I do on my own?
While we will have a lovely blend of scheduled and unscheduled time for you, there are also many options for you to schedule on your own, including: massage, reiki, acupuncture, beach walks, surf lessons, additional yoga classes and more!

    Does Yandara have Wi-Fi?
There is wifi throughout the property, although it can but can be spotty in the accommodations. We would encourage you to try and stay as tech-free as possible while you are on retreat. It is asked that guests not take phone calls in the pool/dining areas.

Yandara was established 21-years ago as a yoga school and is located on 6 acres in a nature-preserve in the desert of Pescadero, Baja. This is a truly magical piece of land that has been deeply infused with the love and intention of this practice we hold so care-fully.

While perhaps not the ‘resort’ retreat that you are typically familiar with, that is precisely the point here.

We will be closely held and connected to the land, nestled in nature at the end of the peninsula on a private stretch of beach that largely remains untouched.

If you are looking for a unique retreat experience that offers an opportunity to reconnect to the essence of spirit, find truth in simple beauty, commune with the elements, you’ll want to join us.

We will be sharing sacred space, moving and breathing life into our intention; a complete mental and physical reset. Restore + Renew.

*Please note, there is no alcohol permitted on the premises at Yandara although there will be a few opportunities for us to have meals off-site.

Sonja roth

Sonja’s love of yoga started back in 2008 while living in Gainesville, Florida when a friend dragged her to a 100 degree/100 minute practice. She was immediately hooked! Her practice has taken her up and down the East coast, all the way to Korea and now home in Colorado. Sonja found her yoga home at Better Buzz and as a teacher she seeks to lead classes that are both accessible and that help promote the understanding that yoga isn't just for flexible people. Expect classes full of community breath, great music and positive energy.

Andy Jans

Andy is a lifelong resident of Colorado. He loves everything outdoors including hiking, camping, and skiing. Music plays a big role in Andy's life as well, he enjoys attending live shows and even learning to play the banjo. He discovered yoga as a way to supplement his many activities, but fell in love with all the other more subtle aspects and benefits of yoga. Since his early years of practicing, he has been committed to learning more and diving even deeper into this amazing practice. Andy's classes are grounding, powerful, creative, and fun.

OUR COMMITMENT TO INVESTIVE TRAVEL

We believe that oftentimes, travel and tourism can be extractive. When selecting the locations we choose to retreat towards, we consider the economic benefits as well as the impact we will have on the community. This might look like actively working in the areas we visit to restore the land or it might be more financial in nature but either way, there will be an investment made in the location we are visiting.

We are also proud to be partnering with the crowd-sourced, micro-lending, non-profit Kiva, which helps unlock capital and bring long-term investments to marginalized and underserved folks in communities around the world (some of which we may be visiting!)

A portion of your retreat proceeds will be helping to fund projects that will truly be life-changing loans for those involved. You will also have the opportunity to directly contribute to those folks for whom it resonates if you feel called at a deeper level.

As with all things, we look to nature as our guide - our carefully crafted retreats follow a cadence and arc that flow with the natural rhythm. Each one will build on the next and while you can absolutely attend each in isolation, the pulse and measure of each offers a common thread throughout, following seasons, tapping into the innate and internal calendar that we all crave at different times. There is something magical that happens when we are able to drop in and follow the essential order of the universe and that is what we are traveling towards.
